Scholastic Composers Contest
Children’s Concert Society believes it is very important to expose young people to the performing arts early in their lives when they are most open to new experiences. The students CCS reaches are the future cultural audiences and artists of our community. However, formal and informal exposure to live music is not enough. It is also important for the children to learn that they, too, can actually create music. Dedicated teachers have inspired many students to enter the Scholastic Composers Contest. All children receive a ribbon indicating their status as “composer”, together with encouraging comments from the judges. First-place winners perform their works at a Premiere Performance in April each year.
Any pupil in grades K-12th grade who resides in or is enrolled in the public, private, parochial or home schools in Summit County and the surrounding area is welcome to submit a original composition. Also, teachers may organize group compositions as well for two or more pupils K-12th grade. If you should have any questions please call 330-972-2504.
